I like Sorby bowl gouges
Works great with the profile I ground on it. The M2 steel stays shard for a long time. All the Sorby gouges I have I would buy again.

Whst size bowl gouge 3/8 or 1/2 inch is most versatile?
Vincent S on Dec 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A 1/2 or 5/8 will be the most versatile as the larger gouges permit one to make both large and small bowls. The 3/8 gouge is relatively weak and tend to vibrate in larger applications. Grind all to 40/40degrees for best performance.
you do not mention the grade of steel used in your tools ?
charlie on Sep 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Robert Sorby turning tools are HSS unless otherwise specified.
How do I tell if the one that I am buying is parabolic or not?
Robert S on Feb 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My bowl gouge is definitely parabolic looking, not a circular arc shape. Some catalogs or the manufacturer's web catalog will show a gouges cross-sectional profile.
