Spray Shellac is a winner
Zinsser Clear Spray Shellac is a winner because it is easy to use, pretty much foolproof, and reasonably priced. You can apply shellac to just about anything, and pretty much anything will stick to shellac if you want to apply additional glazes or topcoats.

Can you use this on wood spoons that will be used to cook?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2015

Is this a primer?
I've been seeing videos on refinishing furniture. I saw one where they used a Shellac spray as primer before staining, but without stripping away old wood finishand sanding first. Will this product do that?
Esperanza on Jan 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Staining wood requires stripping of all previous finish so the wood is open for staining. Shellac can be used to help control the evenness of staining sometimes.
