Woodworking Experience:
deep hole
I recommend it. The bearing is the key. .200" deep in a pass, made a deep rectangular hole fast with and without CNC control.

Woodworking Experience:
I used to beat on an NC machine to flatten glued up panels. It worked very well and left only very tiny swirl marks at the edge of the bits. I would certainly recommend it to others.

Woodworking Experience:
Works like a charm!
This dish carving bit was the perfect solution to a recent project for a Christmas gift. It cut out the round "dishes" to hold game parts and the finger slots for accessing game cards on the inner section of the game board. I look forward to using it on future projects.
Dish carving bit carved the round "dishes" and the round finger grooves at the end of rectangles.

Order for chest tops
Simple template allowed me to make four live edge chest valets in a few hours. I kept two and gave the others to my son-in-laws. Easy cutting and good bearing.

Where can I get a new bearing for this bit?
A shopper on Jul 13, 2015
How do you begin routing with this bit? Plunge in the center of the cutout and then work around or do you need to predrill a hole to drop the bit into?
Wesley L on Dec 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My project required a very accurate depth for the cut out, so I started by routing a little bit out, then lowering the bit some more, and eventually getting the cut out to the depth I needed. If you start by plunging the bit more than, say, 1/4" it'll kick around and possibly damage the surrounding wood. But I should emphasize that if you're patient and careful this bit will do an amazingly job. It's a well made and very sharp bit; no burrs anywhere with it
Does that carbide go all the way across the bottom of this bit?
Walter S on Jun 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. Its a great tool and cuts with a perfect finish on even the most fickle of wood pieces. Worth the buy.
how deep of a bowl can you make with this bit? the description says for bowls but its only 1/2 inch from the bottom of the bit to the bearing.
william h on Feb 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can make multiple passes (the bearing will keep the bit aligned to your earlier passes). I don't know the exact depth, but it really depends how much clearance the bit has from the bottom of your router. From memory, at least an inch, but i think a little more. It's a useful piece of kit.
can this be used in a drill press? or does it have to be used in a router?
b k on Mar 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't think this router bit can be effectively used with a drill press: it lacks the chisel edge found on drill bits.

With a proper collet, you may be able to use it in a mill, but still only with horizontal cuts, not plunging cuts like a drill press.
What is the distance between the bearing and the start of the cutting area on the bit?
MikeL on Nov 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you mean from the bottom of the bearing to the top of the cutting blade, the answer is 1/32". If you mean from the outer edge of the bearing in toward the edge of the cutting blade, then the answer is "you can't see or feel any distance, i.e. the surfaces of the bearing and the cutting edge are on exactly the same plane." Happy to add or clarify if you can respond within two hours. Otherwise, I'm closing my shop until next Saturday.
Does this come in 1/4" shank?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it doesn't. With the size of the bit, a 1/4" shank would not hold up, especially if you add an extension for deeper bowls.
Does this include the bearing? The picture show a bearing, but "what included" does not list the bearing.
Clay F on Dec 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: yes, bearing is included. Works great!
Can this cut acrylic plexiglass?
