JIG IT® Concealed Hinge Drilling Guide

This jig lets you precisely locate and drill the concealed hinge cup holes on your door frames—no drill press required!

Armed with only our Concealed Hinge Drilling Guide and a hand drill, you can drill perfectly positioned cup holes for your concealed hinges. Since there's no need for a drill press, you'll save both money and space in your shop. We've redesigned our jig with some new conveniences while keeping the basic functionality so popular with customers. Each guide now features an integral spring clamp that holds the guide in place as you drill. No adjustment is required for the clamp, but more importantly, the clamp also doubles as a foot. It is designed to rest on your benchtop (or the floor) and provide firm support as you apply downward pressure with the drill bit. To support the other end of the door, simply use scrap blocks or Bench Cookies (sold separately). A long shank Forstner bit (sold separately) to match your hinge cup size is required to use the jig. Carbide bits are recommended.

To get fast, repeatable drilling setups for multiple hinges, see our JIG IT® Deluxe Concealed Hinge Drilling System (#53420, sold separately).

Features:
  • An ideal hinge cup drilling solution for small shops, or for jobsite work
  • Template guide is solid steel for durability
  • Template is secured in place with sturdy metal threaded holes
  • Integral clamp attaches guide securely to your door
  • Clamp doubles as foot, providing firm support as you drill

completely well designed in every way
I very seldom get to say that I think a design of an item needs no improvements, but I'm happy to say that this jig breaks the mold. The plastic design of the clamping arm made me worry a bit at first in regard to possibly breaking, but even though /i had to clamp pretty darn tight on the old oak doors with the slippery gloss finish there was no sign of even a slight weakness. Also the locating jig for the forstner bit should never wear out. Great design guys! I wish the hinge sellers would be as complete in the info they should be supplying everyone. Finding the tab amount from some sellers is like pulling hens teeth. I don't know how we ever did this kind of hinge bore before this jig.

Was a little skeptical at first. Did have a little difficulty setting the depth but once that was properly set drilled hinge holes for 29 new cabinet doors. I can't image not using this jig if your installing European style hinges. Also had settings for the 2 different hinge types I was using.

Super easy to use
Love it. Can't go wrong. Make sure you buy the carbide tipped bit for it if you plan on doing a lot of drilling. I just knocked out 12 doors in 20 minutes which includes me measuring the placement of my hinges. Once you dial this thing up, it's brainless work after that. I love the depth stop. I don't have to worry like i did on the drill press. Now that I'm making cabinets for a living but not enough for a mini press, this job is perfect for me.

How do you set up to do 3/8" overlay? Can it even be used for this measurement since that is 9.525mm?
Janice R on Apr 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Depends on your hardware.
Any detailed instructions on how to use jig it with 3/8" rabbeted cabinet doors for installation of rocker salice hinge?
Jennifer K on Dec 21, 2016
will the JIG IT concealed hint drilling guide work on 1 inch thick doors?
Vincent McKenna on Sep 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes.
I’m considering purchasing this to install Blum inserta hinges. Does this jig provide a guide to drill the mounting holes, or is there another fixture that needs to be purchased?
Marcus H on May 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This jig will only drill the 35mm mounting hole. For the mounting holes you will need one of our JIG IT® Hinge Plate Templates. We do not stock the inserta hinge so I have no information on which one would be correct for your hinge. However, if have the installation instructions you can use this to chose the correct jig as the hole positions are marked on the jig.
Will the Jig It Hinge Drilling Guide allow for a 7 MM tab? Will the "variable slot" allow that much offset?
timsam157 on Feb 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: In its fixed positions it can be setup for 3,5,4,11m tabs. The variable slot which is on the 4, 11mm tab side covers that range, so using the variable tab you should be able to set the jig up for a 7mm tab.
How do you which hinge template jig to buy??
Darren F on Feb 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I bought this jig to install euro hinges to kitchen cabinet doors. It is simple to use and will accommodate most of these style hinges. You do have to know the offset dimension of your hinge to set it up, but once set it clamps on the door and is easy to use. I selected this jig by the way it looked and was described on line. It has worked well for me.
does this jig work with hinge 24964 3/8 rabbeted lipped door hinge ?
Roick on Mar 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do know it is adjustable
How to accurately set variable tab depths on the template plate? I need a tab depth of 8mm which is not one of the presets. I am a beginner and trying to figure out how to accomplish this. Seems like I would need to make a jig for this jig - something that enables me to precisely move the plate fwd or back 'x' mms from one of the known presets.
MrInternet on Dec 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yep, you got it. Just make a shim (jig) to go under the edge screws to give you the correct spacing, clamp 'er down and go. As you know, a scrap wood test is a good idea.
can the jig be adjusted front to back? Change the distance, from the edge of the stile? [I think this is often referred to as the tab]
Claysdad on Jan 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I believe so. I don't have it in front of me at the moment but I believe there are pre-set drilling holes set for 3mm and 5mm tabs depending on your hinge specs. (And I believe you can also adjust for "custom" tab size of not 3or 5mm.
Your best bet is to check the specs for your hinge on Rocklers site - they tell you which of the hinges are compatible with the jig system. I used it on a recent project for the first time ever installing hinges in my life and it worked flawlessly! The project came out great. I highly recommend the product.
What is the drew hole spacing - 42mm or 45mm?
