JIG IT® Concealed Hinge Drilling Guide

Item #
86% of 100

Armed with only our Concealed Hinge Drilling Guide and a hand drill, you can drill perfectly positioned cup holes for your concealed hinges. Since there's no need for a drill press, you'll save both money and space in your shop. We've redesigned our jig with some new conveniences while keeping the basic functionality so popular with customers. Each guide now features an integral spring clamp that holds the guide in place as you drill. No adjustment is required for the clamp, but more importantly, the clamp also doubles as a foot. It is designed to rest on your benchtop (or the floor) and provide firm support as you apply downward pressure with the drill bit. To support the other end of the door, simply use scrap blocks or Bench Cookies (sold separately). A long shank Forstner bit (sold separately) to match your hinge cup size is required to use the jig. Carbide bits are recommended.

To get fast, repeatable drilling setups for multiple hinges, see our JIG IT® Deluxe Concealed Hinge Drilling System (#53420, sold separately).

  • An ideal hinge cup drilling solution for small shops, or for jobsite work
  • Template guide is solid steel for durability
  • Template is secured in place with sturdy metal threaded holes
  • Integral clamp attaches guide securely to your door
  • Clamp doubles as foot, providing firm support as you drill
  • Use scrap blocks or Bench Cookies to support outer edge
  • Center line perfectly positions the template
  • Offsets are adjustable for both face frame and frameless construction
  • Template bases have non-marring bottoms

Hinge Jig
The jig worked great for the doors I did. A drill press would probably work better but it worked good with just a hand drill.

Makes it easier
I could drill the holes on the small door on my drill press without much difficulty. A bigger door was very cumbersome. With this jig, I can work on any size door easily, quickly, and with every bit as much confidence as on my drill press. Would most definitely recommend it.

Does a great job
The jig was easy to set up and did exactly what it is supposed to do. I can do all the hinge holes for a set of doors in just a few minutes. It was a great addition to my jig collection.

Vincent McKenna on Sep 19, 2015
How to accurately set variable tab depths on the template plate? I need a tab depth of 8mm which is not one of the presets. I am a beginner and trying to figure out how to accomplish this. Seems like I would need to make a jig for this jig - something that enables me to precisely move the plate fwd or back 'x' mms from one of the known presets.
MrInternet on Dec 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yep, you got it. Just make a shim (jig) to go under the edge screws to give you the correct spacing, clamp 'er down and go. As you know, a scrap wood test is a good idea.
can the jig be adjusted front to back? Change the distance, from the edge of the stile? [I think this is often referred to as the tab]
Claysdad on Jan 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I believe so. I don't have it in front of me at the moment but I believe there are pre-set drilling holes set for 3mm and 5mm tabs depending on your hinge specs. (And I believe you can also adjust for "custom" tab size of not 3or 5mm.
Your best bet is to check the specs for your hinge on Rocklers site - they tell you which of the hinges are compatible with the jig system. I used it on a recent project for the first time ever installing hinges in my life and it worked flawlessly! The project came out great. I highly recommend the product.
What is the drew hole spacing - 42mm or 45mm?
