Works great
I built two drawers in my workbench cabinet ant put two of these in each drawer. Makes a great way to organize and store assorted router bits. I wanted more 1/4” bits in one section so I put 1/2 x 1/4 nylon bushings in some of the 1/2” holes.

The number of bits in my collection is climbing, and I needed something to organize them, hold them in place, and out of harms way. I put the rubber/foam holder into a DeWalt plastic case and all looks good.

Tim G on Feb 23, 2016
I wanted to buy another of the style of router bit holder that you used to sell that mounted to a vertical wall surface with the axis of the bits horizontal. They had 10 individual plastic bit holders slide along a base track to adjust the spacing between various bit sizes. plus hold even very large bits securely. I own two of them for 1/4" bits and 2 for 1/2" bits. I bought the one shown here but really didn't want a tray. It is a poor substitute for what I had. Please bring the old style back.

How snug do the bits fit into the foam? If installed into a box with a handle would the router bits fall out if stood on its side or even placed upside down? I'm thinking about making a box or modifying the lid to the router bit storage box Rockler offers so that both the bottom of the box and the underside of the lid both store router bits.

BEST ANSWER: The bits have a good tight fit. I cut mine to fit in 2 separate boxes, using the small holes for 1/4 inch drive drill bits. They can be turned upside down and even shaken around without the bits falling out.
Can it be cut into strips?
Ted K on Nov 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ted,
It is very stout foam and yes you could cut it into strips, it is quite thick so you would need a long sharp blade
It lists the depth dimension as 1 1/2". What is the depth of the actual holes?
A shopper on Aug 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The holes are through the thickness of the material, so 1-1/2" deep.
