1 3/4 HP sawstop
My first impression of this saw is it's well built, well thought out instructions, any easy to assemble, very little adjustment to get it tuned up, great piece of equipment.

Outstanding Saw
Upgraded from my 18 year old contractors' saw to this beast. Everything from the fit and finish to the concise instructions, to the superbly organized hardware package, makes this is a 1st rate product. My only regret was I waited so long to purchase it.

Happy sawer!
This saw was an upgrade to replace a 35 year old 1 hp Craftsman that I thought ran okay, that is until i got my SawStop up and running. The saw has plenty of power to suit my needs plus I get to use it with the comforting knowledge that the net slip will not cost me any medical downtime.

I did have a slight problem assembling the saw as two of the holes in the cast iron top had been drilled but not tapped.I was able to tap them and everything else went together very well. I did report this machining error to SawStop and the technical department was outstanding. They made several efforts to contact me and make sure everything was okay and even followed up a few days later to again make sure my saw and i were fine.

If the saw performs half a s well as the technical support department, I should never have an issue with the saw! This is a great saw, that will make many of my projects easier to construct now that I can make better, more accurate cuts!

Woodworking Experience:
Wonderful saw
After 50 years of table saw experience, I had a traumatic amputation of a portion of a finger on my left hand. I made a change to a SawStop table saw to help prevent a recurrence of that temporary loss of attention to details!! I am very pleased with my purchase and the extensive instructions to set up a wonderfully accurate saw. Eventually, when I am too old to turn my saw on, I plan to donate it to a high school or trade school to emphasize the need for a safe saw prior to establishing a new career in the wood arts. The world does not need any more hands with missing fingers in spite of the 10% deduction I get from my manicurist. The quality of the parts for this saw was extraordinary and it was a pleasure to put together. My thanks to the engineers and the company officers for coming up with the physics to support this system.

Great Buy
I perused many forums and looked at a multitude of saws before I settled on this one. How big of a saw I needed was the first question. Since I tend to rip a lot of 4x8 sheets of plywood I went with the 52" table. Next I had to figure out if I needed the contractor base or cabinet base. Consensus is that dust collection is better with the cabinet base and since my basement/woodshop is in the same space as my garage I thought it wise to get the cabinet base. Also, the contractor saw comes with steel wings and this one comes with cast iron. Then I had to decide on the brand and I was curious about the SawStop. In my research I never could find anyone with anything negative to say about the saw or the brand. It is more expensive than similar saws, but that's because of the safety. How much is it worth to stay out of the hospital, or better yet, keep your kid(s) out of the hospital when teaching them woodworking? I'd wager that's worth a lot more than the price difference they're asking, so give it some serious thought. I was surprised when my local Rockler said they had a few in stock effectively saving me $250. When I bought it SawStop was running a mail-in rebate where you could get either the mobile base or the overarm dust collector for free. I elected to buy the mobile base, which they also had on hand, and get the dust collector through the mail. The base is worth it and then some. It not only makes it possible to move the saw, it makes it easy. If you buy this saw make sure you get the base - it'll be worth it - and install it when you first put the saw together. Assembly was lengthy, but the instructions are great. If you pay attention and have someone to help you won't have any issues. The zero clearance insert is wonderful and has leveling screws. The way it inserts into the table is snug and isn't going to pop out with vibrations (note - this saw runs very smooth with no vibration). Dust collection without the arm collector is great, catching over 90% of the dust. The only time I get dust from the top is when wood contacts the back part of the saw blade. The fence is nice and sturdy and doesn't move or bend after it is locked down. With a few minutes of adjustment I had the saw cutting exact measurements with the greatest of ease. I cut a square out of a piece of 1x to check if the fence alignment and it was perfect. Bottom line is that this saw may be a little on the expensive side, but the quality is there and the safety cannot be matched. Everything about the saw is top notch and I would recommend this saw anyone looking for a table saw. Just make sure that you get the correct size table and motor for what you are doing. It was hard coming to terms with spending that much money on a table saw, but now that I have it I have no feelings of buyer's remorse, which tells me this saw is a great buy and worth every penny.

Saw incomplete-no break installed from factory
Purchased this saw from Rockler in Pittsburgh on December 23, 2017. Just put the saw, table and mobile base together, disappointed to find out that SawStop failed to install the cartridge-brake. Call the store, they said I had to call SawStop, and of coarse on the weekend they are closed with no support. Upsetting that you spend $3500 on a tool and cannot even use it when you get it assembled...I get that this may be a one off issue, but quality assurance failed!

My quesstion is about the fence sizes. One saw has a 36" fence, the other a 52" fence. I'm refering to the 1.75hp saws. If the fence measured front to back is the table deeper (front to back) as well?
It looks to me that the tables are longer (from blade to the right).
So I'm just confused as to why the fence size is different.
David J on May 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 36" and 52" are not referring to the length of the fence. It is referring to the maximum length width that you can cut from the right side of the blade out to the right. The front to back is still 27" on the contractor, and professional models.
Can the 110v pro model be converted later to a 220v?
Mike on Sep 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in SawStop! Yes, you can re-wire your 1.75 hp saw working on 110v to work on 220v. The part needed can be ordered from our parts department for $40. The instructions to do this conversion can be found in your owner's manual under "Re-wiring your saw".
It looks like the 30" has a third crank or handle on the side that the 36" doesn't. What am I seeing in the picture? Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Bill. There is a storage mount on the side of the saw for holding the riving knife, the blade guard, and the miter gauge. What you see in this photo is the miter gauge in the storage mount. I am certain that the 36" model also has this feature.
Does this model come with a sawstop saw blade?
Thomas P on Feb 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Thomas,

Thank you for your question. The saw comes with a 10 "blade and a standard brake cartridge already installed. If you would like a dado break those are purchased separately and do not come with the saw.
Can the 52” fence be easily removed when not in use to bring the overall width of the machine down? It appears that the difference between the 36 and the 50 is just an extension attachment? The 50 would be nice to have when needed but I would probably only use it rarely and I really don’t have the floor space for it. Thanks!
Roger S on Jan 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Roger S: Thank you for your interest in our Professional Cabinet Saw. To answer your question, the rails are one full continuous piece, so it doesn't matter if you take out the extension table or not, the rails will still be 85 1/4" long.
Are the 1.75hp and 3hp models identical other than the motors? Can the 1.75 be upgraded to 3 hp by replacing the motor?
Carroll D on Jun 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in SawStop. In response to your request, the easiest and most economical purchase if you think you will want 3HP at some point in the future, and you have 230volt power available, is to purchase the Professional 3HP, 230volt Cabinet Saw now. The Professional 1.75HP, 110volt motor can be changed out to the 3HP, 230volt motor, but it is costly, hundreds of dollars, and it is labor intensive.
Does the 1.75hp professional model come with a wheeled mobile base?
RyanP on Sep 15, 2017

Thank you for your interest in SawStop! In response to your question, our Professional Cabinet saw does not come with a mobile base, but you can purchase a mobile base for it. We offer the Integrated Mobile Base or the Industrial Mobile Base with PCS Conversion Kit.
