Starrett® 6'' Combination Square with Square Head

Item #
52399
Rating:
100% of 100
The combination square is one of the world's most practical and versatile tool inventions - the basic tool for every builder and craftsman. Features try/miter gauge, depth gauge, height gauge and marking gauge - all in one! With reversible lock bolt, scriber, spirit level and machine-divided blade with satin chrome finish.

This tool can be used for many different purposes - a complete substitute for a whole set of common solid try angles, a 45-degree miter, a depth gauge, a height gauge, a marking or scribing gauge, a level, a plumb, and by withdrawing the blade it can also be used as a precision rule.

Features:
 • Easy-to-read graduations in 1/8" and 1/16" on one side of blade. Quick reading in 1/32" and 1/64" on other side.
 • Reversible lock bolt allows the blade to be turned over or end-for-end without removing the lock bolt or nut. This ensures true alignment of the blade and heads.
 • Cast-iron head with black finish.

Perfectly sized combination square
I had been needing a small, accurate combination square to deal with laying out hole locations on small-sized (dimensions less than 4") lumber, and this item has filled the need perfectly, Highly recommended.

6" square
This square is much easier to use for layout purposes compared to a larger 12" square. Also, the chrome finish provides a non-glare, easy-to-read device when setting the scale.

Starrett worth the price
I used a very old combo square and it was adequate but the Starrett is an OMG improvement. Save your money and get what you can afford. BTW it's made in the USA. EAsy to read ,wonderful smooth adjustments and goes all the way down to 1/64 of an inch.

Always kept within reach!
I know this costs a little more than most of us like, but the quality and functionality makes this well worth it. I have this perfect sized square close by at all times for depth, router bit and saw blade heights, and all types of layout and marking duties as well as thickness measures at the planer. I seldom regret buying the better quality item as the years go by.

Best quality I've seen
Have had several Starrett squares over the years and they hold up far better than all other brands I've used. They're not cheap, but worth the investment in terms of accuracy, and quality of construction.

I purchased the Starrett 6" combination Square to use in my woodworking shop. I have the 12" Starrett Combination Square with three heads and I use it on every project. There are times when a smaller square is needed. I went with Starrett becaue the quality of their instruments are the best available. I have several Starrett instruments in my shop and they are very reliable. I save time and money in the long run by going to starrett first and buying what I need - quality.

Paul Allison

Does it come in metric system?
Osvaldo F on Nov 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased square at Wood Craft. They are able to order it in metric, if they do not have one. Ed
is this a true Starrett? I do not see the logo plaque on the body of the square. knockoff?
smith on Feb 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: smith...you are correct the Starrett logo is not on the body of the square, but it is a Starrett. Based on the quality of the square and the name on the ruler itself tells me its a Starrett. And the same spring loaded furrell.
