Add some decorative flair and wonder to your room with these concealed shelf supports. No visible hardware creates a minimalist look, and grants you a wider range of visual variety and options. The invisible shelf brackets are made of sturdy metal, with alloy steel coupling screws to ensure they maintain tension between the posts and the inserts in the plates. This gives you an impressive capacity of 50 lbs for an 8'' deep shelf up to 34'' long (capacity is higher for shallower shelves). For shelves longer than 34'', simply add additional supports. This package includes five sets/pairs of supports. Each set includes the mating brackets and supports you'll need. You provide the space, the screws and the shelf, then enjoy the added storage and staging space in your living room, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or office.

Woodworking Experience:
The drywall will support this, but use a story board
I chose this support because of the long moment arm (distance between the securing screws and the bottom of the bracket) and my concern about the ability of the drywall to support the bracket's leverage. It helps to use a story board ie, a thin stick with holes to align the supports *and* the holes drilled into the shelf/mantel. My self/mantel had a depth slightly shallower than these brackets so I shortened the brackets with a hack saw.

I created a groove in the back of the shelves I made and mounted the supports to a piece of 3/4 plywood to mount to the wall. This allowed me to mount the strip to the wall studs and that made hanging them much easier. To keep the shelves from sliding on the supports I was able to use a 1/2 sheet metal screw to lock the shelf to the support strip. If I make more shelves I will use these supports and do the same type of support.

These are working out well for my customers. It works best to drill the holes in the shelves using a doweling jig. I have had one in my shop for many years and works great to keep the drill bit lined up straight when on the job site. I like it best if I can anchor these right to a stud, but have also used molly Bolts. Good product, I have order many sets of these.
Steve P on Apr 9, 2020
I chose them because my carpenter told me to order them for my kitchen project.<br />I look forward to seeing my oak shelves when they are installed!

My wife and Mother in law want Me to make these. I like this kit due to the pointed set screws for the rails. My hope is that it makes marking the holes to drill a lot easier.

I make shelves for my home and have found these to be more convenient then using the 2x2 screwed to the wall (I make shelf to fit tightly and put 2 discreet screws on top of shelf) but I am limited to width of shelf.

Hanging a 60" X 9" deep live edge shelf that you will see from the side. I'll do one of these on every stud and a hidden bracket on one wall.

Great reviews. Trust Rockler to sell a good quality product.
Mike on Jun 24, 2019
I selected this hardware rather than an alternate selection because the mounting holes were closer together and I supposed it would be easier to hit a stud with both holes rather than needing to angle my drill. Of course, holes closer together might impinge on strength, but I think it will be okay.

Do you sell any hardware that would support a 12" depth floating shelf?
Sirena B on Jan 13, 2018
Think in would be able to get by with a 10in. deep shelf?
Ancel Woodworks on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why you couldn't but keep in mind when doing so you will loose some of the overall weight limit. As long as you keep most of the weight closer to the wall I think you will be OK and you could also just add extra supports so that you had them every 16" on center into the wall studs which would give you more pins sticking out and this would help with the overall amount of combined weight.
I have a true 2" X 8" X 126" pine shelf I'd like to hang. If I was to use these on every stud would it still hold?
jarrod h on Mar 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: They are very strong. You may not need them on every stud. It really depends on how much weight the shelf will hold. If the load is light you may only need a few.
Can these be used with shelves narrower than 5 inches?
N G on Dec 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The bracket is 5”. So no, you cannot use this bracket for shelves narrower than 5”(unless you cut the bracket).
What keeps the shelf from sliding off the hardware?
Nicholas L on Apr 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There are really two things. If the shelf is installed horizontally and gravity is the only force acting on the shelf then there is nothing to push the shelf off the supports. Also what I found is that in real life the supports are never exactly perpendicular to the plane of the wall and those slight imperfections cause the supports to rub along the sides of the holes that were drilled in the shelf.
Getting everything lined up and square was my biggest issue.
Can toggle bolts be used if a stud can’t be reached on both sides?
CJ on Apr 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Quick answer....NO. There is too much weight pulling on these and it would rip the fastener and the drywall. You need to hit a stud for these to work properly
I'm planing on a 7 ft long shelve, How many brackets should i use?
Jorge V on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I made my shelf out of 2" x 6" and knew that it would have a pretty heavy load so i used a shelf support on each stud. My shelf was 3' long, so it took 3 supports per shelf, since the studs are on 16" centers. Depending on how heavy of a load you intend on placing on the shelf would determine how man you should use, in my opinion. If it will be lightly loaded, you could probably get away with using 3 supports, as long as they are mounted to a stud. I believe the most that you can fit over that span would be 6 supports if you place one on each stud as I did.
What are the dimensions of the piece that is screwed to the wall? I have plaster / adobe walls and will need to use anchors... Suggestions?
Skipper B on Sep 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: On mine, the rectangular piece measure 1 1/2” by 15/16”. The holes are spaced around 1/2” apart
