Dust Right Wall-Mount Dust Collector, 650 CFM

Heavy-duty performance meets out-of-the-way convenience.
Item #
58860
Rating:
92% of 100

By pairing an impressive flow rate of 650 CFM with a unique wall-mount design, this collector gobbles up dust at the source, without hogging up floor space. It mounts quickly and easily to the wall with a simple included Z-bracket. Plus, it's portable! Just set up additional Z-brackets (#21537, sold separately) around your shop to create dust-collection stations close to the tools you're working with. The comfortable foam-gripped handle makes transportation and setup a breeze. The motor features a sealed shaft and bearings for quiet, long lasting operation, and the inlet accepts standard 4'' hose. The collector includes a 30-micron bag with a clear window on the side so you can see whether it's full. A zipper in the bottom makes emptying a breeze.

Features:

  • Collects dust while conserving floor space
  • Can be moved around the shop with additional wall brackets (#21537, sold separately)
  • Includes 30-micron bag with a clear ''bag full'' window and zippered closure for easy emptying
  • Optional 5-micron bag (#20431, sold separately) offers finer particle retention

Why didn't I buy this sooner
It's awesome, not too loud, maybe same as a sander but a lower pitch, definitely quieter than a router or planer. Is even quieter with a hose attached. Having one of these makes a huge difference in dust collection and is mounted high on the wall so no floor space taken up.

I love it
I was using a shop vac that I could connect to each machine. That worked fine for me until I bought a better table saw. I had been taking my TS onto the driveway before, to cut. Now it was not going to be mobile. Sawdust was floating everywhere. Now it's under control. Took a little learning curve.

Nice unit
I like this collector but one thing I don’t like is it plugs up at the connection to the blower with the cross bars at the end when planing rough lumber the dust can be longer shreds coming off and it catches these bars and plugs

Additional dust collection
I bought this instead of extending my main dust collection system. Neither option was free, but this seemed the easiest. I previously had the dust right with the bag, but sold it. This one I got with the canister filter which is well worth it. The unit is not particularly loud and does a good job with a relatively short (14") flex hose going to the machines that I use it for. I also use it with a floor sweep and it does just fine.

It does what its supposed to do.
I would recommend this to the garage woodworker like myself who has to move the cars in and out all the time. When I used to sweep the floor, there would always be a fine film of sawdust left over. After all the work of sweeping and stooping over with the dustpan, the floor still wasn't clean. Guess what - that's not a problem anymore! My only advice is to get the longest hose because it runs out fast when you start moving away from the motor.
hose docking station. 4" ABS pipe extension so I get maximum hose length.
4 inch swivel and 45 degree fitting on bottom.

Love how well this works, and it's convenience.
I set up my wood shop in my barn, and it did not take long to figure out I needed some way to control the dust from cutting, routing, and other wood operations. After a few hours of research on-line, I determined that the DustRight wall mount collector would be best for my situation, and ordered it, and the hoses, etc. to get started. I could not be more pleased with the results. Got it assembled and mounted on the wall in no time, and the hose reaches all of my equipment. I made a dust port for it to fit mt dovetail jig, and that was the first thing I used it with. I worked great, gathering all the dust so well that I no longer need to wear a dust mast and coveralls while routing.

Can you plug this into a 10ft extension cord? I do not have an accessible plug.
Travis S on Jun 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Specs say 12 amps so an extension cord sized correctly should be no problem. Cord with 14 gauge wires should work for 10 feet although I always error on the safe side and would go with a cord with 12 gauge wires.
Can the unit be rotated 180 degrees as if it were mounted on the ground or a workbench with the exhaust port and bag parallel to the ground?

How wide is the collector? I have very limited space in my garage and had to sell my Jet collector because it was just too big for my garage/shop area.

BEST ANSWER: Just under 15". 52" tall
Is this powerful enough to set up a hose system for several tools controlled with blast gates?
Daniel B on Dec 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Honestly depends on how you set up your system. If you put the blast gates near the unions where your main run branches off to eliminate un-needed piping you should be fine. Limit the amount of flex hose you use and stick to rigid lines. Should be ok if you only have a small shop with only 2-3 major tools plumbed in.
can the 4" hose be stepped doen to 2 1/2" to fit all my machines?
Toby F on May 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They sell such a step adapter.
What accessories should I consider ? Like hoses, hose clamps and other attachments?
john y on Oct 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: At a minimum you are going to need the Hose (comes in 3 different lengths) & the Quick Change Multi-port Tool Set
Would this be adequate for beginner woodworker with a 24x24 shop?
Randy D on Sep 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I believe so. I have mine in a one-car garage in which I occasionally need to use to store a car (image that!). I have pvc, blast gates and flex hose to vacuum my table saw, drill press, router table and planer. Can’t imagine how I ever got along without it.
How far from the wall does the dc extend (including the mounting plate)? What is the width? Height without the bag/filter?
potential b on Jul 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The unit extends 17 inches from the wall if you include the handle. Without, it is 14.5 inches. With the bag, it is 20 inches. For width, you need to include the 4 inch right angle connector as well as a few inches on the motor side to allow motor cooling in the end vents.
are the hose connections & electric motor able to change sides, I would need the hose connection on the right side?
Kenneth M on Dec 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The housing is not reversible. I couldn’t attach photos but after looking at mine it is apparent the motor and intake cannot be reversed
How loud is this collection system? Is it louder than the typical shop vac?
David J on Sep 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It's not as loud, but has a lower "tone", like comparing an alto singer to a soprano.
Also, I would recommend something with more power. This one is enough for a single tablesaw, bandsaw, etc, on a short run of hose. Had it been available, then I would have bought the stronger model now on sale.

The jet 1 1/2hp vortex dust collector with cost about the same as the Rockwell with the optional cannister, but will be MUCH more powerful and a little quieter. I sold this jet to get the wall mounted collector, which I now regret.
Can this be used with aluminum chips?
Julian on Aug 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We do not recommend using this, or any, dust collector for materials other than those for which it was specifically designed..
What is the Length of the Power Cord from the Main body to the plug? I prefer not to use Extension Cords.
ROBERT H on Jul 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I’m not exactly sure but I think it’s 6ft. This way the current draw doesn’t have to travel a long distance and this will cause voltage drop to the machine which can make it not perform at its max capacity. I would suggest plugging into an arc fault circuit interrupter receptacle.
Could this be mounted/hung from the ceiling?
Danny S on Oct 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Maybe with a different bracket, The blower outlet that bag connects to needs to be vertical pointing downward
What is the db noise level?
Fred J on Sep 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't have a meter to measure. I know I can't here the speakers in the shop, but I don't mind that. Overall I am more happy with the performance then worrying about the noise.

BEST ANSWER: I do not know . I did not have it long enough to tell. Sorry Dean
can you add the canister filter at a later time?
JOHN D on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don’t see why you couldn’t add it later. I ordered mine together, but the motor and filter came in separate boxes. BTW, I highly recommend the filter.
Where do you get those blue brackets that mount on the wall? I cannot find them anywhere.
Sam W on Nov 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: black bracket comes with unit, which is all you need to hang unit
Does this automatically separate dust from the filter like you would have a separator hooked to a shop vac? Or is this basically a big shop vacuum that doesn’t separate?
Sam W on Nov 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It's just a big collector with no separation. Wonderful collection device, definitely recommend!
How does this wall mounted system handle larger-than-dust-particles such such as smaller chunks/chips of wood, screws, nails, etc?
Dugger on Sep 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Larger pieces of materials will build up where the intake and hose connect. It will eventually plug up and you will need to remove the hose to clear out the build up.
Overall dimensions? I want to see if it will fit inside an open closet. Thanks.
Amy K on Aug 29, 2019

I read you ship the product to Europe, but do you have a 220-240 Volt available?
Davide B on Jul 13, 2019

Will this keep up with the 1.75hp Sawstop?
Retiredguy on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Good morning Retiredguy,

While there are variances that COULD give you an issue - too many bends in your piping, leaks, piping or hose too small - the 650 cfm should easily take care of the dust collection for your Sawstop table saw.

Something to consider if you have other dust making tools would be to add blastgates for each tool for maximum vacuum. I have a small shop but between my table saw, drill press, scroll saw, sanders, router table and planer the 650 cfm Dust Right is more than up to the task.

I hope this helps answer your question and provides some info for other considerations.
