Lock is essential.
I have owned the Rockler FX lift for 3 years now and got a little frustrated with the fact that it does not lock and needs frequent adjustment to prevent drift. The threads on the brass tensioning collar started to wear after frequent tightenings which added to the frustration.

I finally threw in the towel and bought this lift at the sale price. It is a quality lift and I would recommend it highly especially if you plan to use it often. My only complaint is that it appears you can’t zero it with affecting the bit height setting like you could with the FX. There has to be a way to do this so I will keep looking. If Rockler would like to respond I would appreciate it. Also, the crank on the FX was much better and luckily it fits this model too.

Makes it so much easier for n old guy to see without standing on your head to look underneath the router in the work table. And easy to attain great accuracy in amount of adjusting. I had a lot of frustration getting it to fit my router, but finally got it installed satisfactorily.

Great Router Lift
This lift is more like a work of art. I come from a CNC Machining (Metal) Programming/Operating back ground and the pieces are top notch craftsmanship. I purchased this as my first router lift and table together. I used it in combination with my Bosch 1617 router, worked flawlessly. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the lift. My only head scratcher with router tables and plates in general is this.... WHY IS THERE ONLY 2 MOUNTING SCREWS IN ALL ROUTER PLATES? IT MAKES 0 SENSE NOT TO HAVE A SCREW IN EACH CORNER!
If you have the extra couple bucks.... don’t hesitate to buy this lift. It’s made by JessEm out of Canada. One last thing make sure you read the description completely. This plate is an 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 (it will not fit a normal JessEm table or any table with the larger opening).

Woodworking Experience:
I bought this to replace a Bench Dog Pro Lift. I was tired of having to unscrew three screws every time I wanted to change the plate insert. With this Incra lift you use magnetic plates that pop in and out easily, saving you time. I was also able to buy an additional set of plates from Incra to give me a total of 11 different sizes. This lift has a locking mechanism to lock your router in place before you make a cut. Very smooth operation and easy setup.

I installed it in my tablesaw table so that I can use that fence and also save space. Pretty easy to install and it is a pleasure to use. One minor flaw in the one I got is that the spindle lock pointer is off by about 100 degrees and I could not find a way to correct it. It does not affect the function.

The Kregg router lift was back ordered, but for further out. They are similar in terms of perceived value so the Kregg's lower price was my original pick. But the shorter lead time on the Incra is sort of worth the $50 diff. I do have other Incra tools, they are nice.

Will this lift fit in a SawStop inline router extension (part number RT-TGP)? The opening is a supposedly standard 11-3/4 x 9-1/4 inches in a cast iron table.
Philip B on Jul 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This lift is 11-3/4" x 8-1/4" x 3/8", which is the size used on Rockler Router Tables.
the lift seems to be sitting proud off of the (Rockler) table, even before the leveling screws are used.... Any advice?
BillParsons on Nov 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sure Bill. Mine did too at first, and I used a hex wrench and drove the mounting nuts a little deeper into the table top and that solved my problem. I hope that helps, it's one of the best tools I bought myself!
Compatible routers: "Bosch 1617EVS, 1618" ... will the Bosch 1619EVS fit ?

BEST ANSWER: This item is compatible with the Bosch 1617
What is the corner radius of the router plate on this lift? I am cutting my own opening in a custom router table and want an exact fit. My local Rockler is out of stock on the templates, so I am stuck with cutting the corners with an appropriately sized router bit (large diameter) or forstner drill bit (then connect the dots.
Stuart G on Jan 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My suggestion would be to wait until you have the lift before making this cut. If Rockler can't tell you the radius, I'm not confident my calculation would be 100% accurate. I will tell you it's a stellar lift (the only one I've owned so I cannot compare to others) but it really is a quality piece of equipment and for me, works like a charm. Can't imagine not having it in my shop. Mine is in a Benchdog cast iron table saw extension which makes it very convenient in a tight shop such as mine. Good luck!
I have a Porter Cable Model 7539, will this lift work with it?
Lloyd on Nov 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I do tech work for Incra: Sorry, the 7539 WILL NOT work in this router lift. On the PC 7539 & 7538, as with other traditional plunge routers, the motor is integrated into the plunge base and can't be removed for use elsewhere. The 7539 does not use the cylindrical motor housing shown in the photo of the 7518 motor above, an the confusion among answers stems from the fixed base and plunge routers having the same guts and similar top caps.
I have my own custom built router table with plywood router top,but soon to be replacing it with a thicker top. Am I able to to cut my own opening for this router lift?? It won't be in my budget to buy a commercial router table top and stand.
Sam M on Aug 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I have an older router table top and the opening was to small, and not deep enough for the Mast-R-Lift II. I clamped 4 boards onto the table and routered a new opening a touch deeper than the thickness of the Mast-R-Lift II, and it fit perfectly. You have adjusting screws to get the height just level with the table. I love it.

Hope this helps.
My router table is built from the New Yankee Workshop Deluxe Router Plan set. I own an older model Ridgid router set with the R2900 motor, R2910 Fixed Base Assembly, and the R2920 Plunge Base Assembly. I noticed that this router lift is compatible with the Ridgid R29302 router set. Will this lift be compatible with my router? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
David S on Dec 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm using this with a 2900 motor. I removed the push tab on the motor that holds the bottom collett nut while turning the top one. I installed the motor according to the 29302 instructions except I adjusted height so the housong of the tab above is 1/16 below plate instead of the whole motor housing. It's working fine.
Will a 4.25 inch diameter Portamate model PM-P254 3 1/4 hp router fit in this lift?
Jerry G on Jan 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. That's the setup I have. No modifications were needed.
How are the inserts held in?
George K on Nov 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The inserts are held in place with exceptionally strong magnets. The magnets are so strong a small place was left open to allow use of a small screwdriver to pry the insert out. You need to use care not to use your fingers because the magnets can pinch a finger if not careful! I love the way this tool works, it is very smooth and the locking mech makes the setting of depth of cut stay where you want every time.

Is the opening large enough to run the larger bits?
Waymon C on Apr 8, 2019

Will this lift work with a bosch 1604?
Julia N on May 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use the Bosch 1604 in this lift. I've had it for over a year now and it has been a real game changer for my router table. It was easy to install and put to use in no time at all.
Looking at the pic, the plate doesn't appear to have any hold down screws. I plan to drop it in my Benchdog table saw wing. Is it just sitting in position with nothing more than the snugger underneath the table?
Blair C on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Just received my lift and it has two hold-down screws that are identical to other Rockler or bench dog router plates and lifts. Manual states "As part of our Continuous Product Improvement Policy, JessEm products are always advancing in design and function. Therefore, there may be differences between what is shown in our catalogs, website or at retail display and what is sold at time of purchase." Sounds like the holes were added after Joe R bought his lift.
an you tell me what table needs to be purchased to fit this router lift "Incra Master Lift II Manual", buying from Rockler I was told that it fitted their standard size but I now see that it is much bigger and thicker, can you give me the details as what is the reference to purchase this table to fit this lift?
Trevor on Jul 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I had an older Rocker table and Jessem router lift. The plate of the lift was smaller. I bought the Rockler phenolic top to replace it, and the Incra Master Lift II fit perfectly in the new table. (works perfectly as well)
I have a router table extension for my table saw. the opening is 9" x 12" , will this work ?
gobob on Apr 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Incra sells a standard Mast-r-lift II that fits "standard" 9" router plate holes. There's no reason you would buy the "rockler" version unless you needed it for one of rockler's nonstandard router tables. If you are building your own, or own a different brand's table, just buy the standard 9" mast-r-lift. Rockler might even sell it.
Wanting to buy a router table, fence. I have a Dewalt DW618 router. I’ve gotten advice that an Incra Lift is a must have and is compatible to my router? Feedback? Would
Everyone recommend wheels, on/off switch? I want to branch out but I keep adding up the prices! Yikes!
If Incra is the way to go, which one fits my Dewalt?
David H on Jun 23, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this is compatible with the DW618 router.

In my opinion this is the best lift that we offer. Great locking mechanism accessible from the top, full range of inserts included, lots of adjustment to accommodate most routers. It is also made in Canada. I have casters on my router table as I move it about a lot, but they are optional. I would definitely get the on/off switch, much safer when you are operating the router and you don't have to go under the table to turn the router on/off.

Farron M on Jan 15, 2020

Installing this lift in a Bench Dog cast iron table saw extension: best to level from the top, plate-level system or below the table through the extension?

Will the Incra Mast-R-lift-II work on a Kreg router table?
K K on Nov 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not know because I do not have a Kreg router table. I would expect the dimensions for the opening in the Kreg router to be available from Kreg via the internet.

I do know that the Rockler version of the Mast-R -Lift II is smaller than the openings in the Woodpecker and the Jessem tables.
I want to install the lift in a wing of my table saw. What problems will I have if I get sawdust in the various openings (as I surely will) for the adjustment crank and the throat plates? I don't see any way to close them off when not in use.
Chris R on Jun 17, 2016

I have a router table wing for my table saw and have not had an issue with this. If saw dust gets in the crank you can just vacuum it out, and my lift came with a throat plate with no hole cut in it to use when not routing. If saw dust is a problem you could just put a piece of clear packing tape over those areas and remove it when needed.
I purchased the incra masterlift-2. The supplied steel rings do not fit the port-cable standard for guide bushings. Can I purchase one with this size opening separately? If not, any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a Craftsman 14 amp Fixed/Plunge Base Router Model # 27680. Will this router fit the Incra Mast-R-Lift II?
Chris A on Nov 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would check with the manufacturer to be sure. Although I can't tell you if your specific router fits the Incra Lift I can say without a doubt that it's a great lift, saves me time and is very accurate. The price scared me at first and I had reservations but you get what you pay for and I'm sure this will be the last lift I'll need. Well worth it. Glad I made the decision to buy. Good luck.
Is your router lift compatible with Ryobi RE-600 Router and Rockler table?
John T on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The incra lift sold at Rockler is compatible with Rockler tables, if you buy it elsewhere it probably won't fit the 8.25" opening Rockler tables have. That router you have isn't on the compatible router list but you may still be able to move the blocks on the mount to a position to fit that router size.
Witch Router Lift and Table is Compatible with the Makita RF1101 2-1/4-Horsepower Variable Speed Router ?
Bacar D on Jul 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: incra's website says you can use your Makita in the Mast-r-lift II lift. You can use just about any table rockler offers with that lift. Just make sure if you order the lift from Rockler you get a table from Rockler also or be sure your table can use a 8.25" x 11.75" size plate/lift. The Incra Rockler sells is specially sized for Rockler.
If the hole in the spacer ring is smaller ( 3/8 dia.) than the nut on the spindle chuck, how can you loosen the spindle nut above the table?
A shopper on Jul 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The hole is about 3 1/2" not 3/8". I think you are looking at the spacer ring with the smallest opening. To change a bit, you remove the spacer ring which is held in place by the magnets. After changing the bit, you replace the spacer ring.
