DIY Wood Side Table with Leather Magazine Rack
How to build a modern wood side table with leather magazine rack. The project is assembled with Beadlock floating tenons. The mortises for these tenons are easy to form with the Rockler Beadlock Pro Jig.
This project was designed and built by Chelsea and Logan from Making Manzanita.

With the exception of the leather, all of the materials for this project can be sourced from Rockler. You can purchase the leather from retail leather supply stores, on Etsy sites or in some craft supply stores. Another option is to use faux leather which is available at many fabric stores. But our favorite source is to repurpose the leather from furniture items that are damaged and headed to the dump. We typically find the furniture on Facebook or Craiglist. We then remove the leather from the furniture and use it for our projects.

Cut leather with rotary cutter, cutting mat and acrylic ruler to approximately 14" wide by 28" tall. Glue leather around the dowel. We used Rapid Fuse allpurpose adhesive to glue into place, holding for 30 seconds to secure and then clamp for 30 minutes to cure. After the glue is dry, staple leather onto the dowel on the bottom side of the dowel for extra stability.
