Worth its weight in Gold
I have been a woodworking hobbyist for over 35 years, I own many different types of saws, sabre, skill, sawzall, band, compound miter and the largest and oldest being my 35 year old radial arm saw. In all this time with all these saws I have never cut myself while using any of these saws.

Nine months ago I purchased a Professional SawStop 3hp, 220v Cabinet Saw for my shop. Setup was quick and easy and the saw is accurate and easy to use. The other day I was doing a blind cut, making a mortise jig. As i was about to lower the blade, it caught on something, shot the wood out of my hand about 20 feet. Before I knew what happened I felt pain in my middle finger. When I looked down the blade was nowhere to be seen and the saw was off.

The saw worked as advertised. And while I have seen the hot dog video, my injury was a little more severe. I received 4 stitches in my finger, but as sure as I am writing this, I know that without the Sawstop, the top of my middle finger would have been severed completely off.

No matter how careful you are, accidents can happen and any table saw is a dangerous tool.

As far as I am concerned this table saw is a bargain at twice the price.

The finest table saw I have...
The finest table saw I have used thus far. I was a high school carpentry and engineering teacher for 12 years and have used many table saw brands in many categories. This saw by far is the safest and most accurate saw I have used. As a shop teacher I have seen some pretty amazingly crazy things and most of which have taken place near a large piece of dangerous equipment. After seeing the hotdog demonstration I was sold. I purchased 2 5hp Industrial cabinet saws and my stress levels went down. Safety is never compromised but accidents do happen and the insurance is worth it.

IS THIS MODEL 240 VOLT AND SINGLE PHASE?
T I on Apr 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This is a 240 volt single phase and 13 amps. Been happy with this saw and the only thing I wished was diffent was the fence,it needs a fine adjustment turn knob instead you have to bump it slowly until you reach the size you need.
What is this saws power requirements?
Ed S on Sep 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 220 V and 13amps
How many volts is this model (3hp professional table saw 52" fence)? I see 2 different answers: 220v & 240v and just need to make sure. Thanks!
Janie G on Dec 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Unless you want to install a dedicated transformer, doesn’t matter. What you can get at your outlet is 2x what comes out of your panel for regular residential service. As long as you don’t have a problem with big voltage fluctuations, anything in that range is fine.

Unrelated hint...make sure you have at least 3//8” clearance to the blade if you use something like an Incra mitre gauge or you’re going to be popping brakes and losing blades a lot.
Can you use the Sawstop with pressure treated lumber? Or with exterior lumber which may have some moisture content?
william r on Sep 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: William R: Thank you for your interest in SawStop. In response to your request, SawStop saws cut most wet wood without a problem. However, if the wood is very green or wet (for example, wet enough to spray a mist when cutting), or if the wood is both wet and pressure treated, then the wood may be sufficiently conductive to activate the brake. If you are unsure if the material you need to cut is conductive, you can make test cuts using Bypass Mode to determine if it will activate the safety system’s brake. The red light on the control box will flash to indicate conductivity.
Does this Sawstop unit already come with the Dust Collection Blade Guard? I see the guards are sold separately but it looks in the description of the saw like this model has it included
chris on Dec 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It comes with riving knife, blade guard with 2 inch dust port and 4 inch dust port on rear of saw. Standard Miter gauge included. Outstanding saw in my opinion.
Does the saw have a riving knife ?
George P on Oct 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it comes with a riving knife when you're not using the blade guard. It can be used with or without the riving knife (which I would never recommend) if necessary. The way SawStop makes the blade guard, you'll find that you use it most of the time.
How does this saw do without using a dust collector? Does the sawdust accumulat inside or does it get blown out and never a need to clean out the inside of the cabinet?
Harvest P on Oct 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Harvest P:

Thank you for your interest in SawStop! In response to your question, you never want to use a table saw without dust collection because of the carcinogenic properties of the small dust particulates. That being said, keep in mind that your saw will come with the Dust Collection Blade Guard, which pushes dust to the back of the guard to a 2 1/2" port, which will further spread dust in the air. It's also not good for the saw's motor and other interior parts to have dust not being extracted.
