Rockler Undersized Plywood Router Bit Set

Specially designed to cut perfect-fitting grooves and dadoes for plywood that measures less than its stated nominal thickness.

Plywood is usually thinner than the nominal measurements indicate. As a result, regular size bits usually don't cut a tight-fitting dado. Fortunately, undersized dado bits like these will help your joinery fit perfectly, resulting in stronger assemblies and nearly invisible joint lines. This set includes the three most common sizes of straight bits for undersized plywood: 23/32" for 3/4" plywood, 31/64" for 1/2" plywood, and 15/64" for 1/4" plywood.

Rockler Undersized Plywood Router Bit Set

(1) 23/32" Straight Bit for 3/4" plywood

(1) 31/64" Straight Bit for 1/2" plywood

(1) 15/64" Straight Bit for 1/4" plywood

Perfect cuts
During the pandemic shutdown in Southern California I had long-standing projects to complete and new ones I'd dreamed up. A supply of left-over plywood was begging to become a storage cabinet for our basement. Knowing 3/4" and 1/2" ply don't "measure up," these bits cut perfect dados.

Great set!
I have only used the bit for the 3/4” size plywood. Works great. I use it to cut the dado in kitchen cabinets I’m making to accept the lower permanent shelf. I would have made two cuts in the past with a half inch bit. This undersized bit makes the job go quickly. Also leaves a beautifully clean dado. Price is right as well. l

I have learned that using standard straight bits, there is "wiggle" room for plywood in the cut, so, I use the undersized bits. Having been a customer of Rockler for many years, I have come to trust them and their products.

I like Rockler products because they’ve always proven to be high quality. So, I’m trusting the brand here! I work mostly with plywood and just bought a router. Hoping these prove themselves!

Solves the problem with undersized plywood and having to make two passes with smaller bits to achieve the necessary size.
David L on Feb 27, 2020
I cut my own dadoes with a router and most plywood thicknesses are not 3/4". 1/2", or 1/4". They are slightly smaller. These bits give a tighter fit at 1/64" less than the nominal plywood size, not a sloppy one like 3/4" router bit would give you.

When I made my first plywood cabinets, I used a 3/4” straight router bit with my router table to make dado grooves, which had some play, complicating box assembly, and leaving visible gaps. This bit set will take my cabinet making to the professional level.

is the price for 4 unit router bit?
saiful on Sep 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This is a 3 piece set of router bits with 1/4" shanks.
Do you sell 1" straight router bits?
Tom G on Jul 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't think they sell a 1" straight router bit. You can make the cut with 2 passes. Cut one side with a 3/4 router bit then cut the other side with the same 3/4 router bit so you don't have to anymore adjustments. Just make a straight edge for your router and use it on both sides. Hope this help you.
Will these bits allow me to use the Festool MFK 700 to cut 6mm deep dadoes in 19mm thick plywood? The MFK 700 has stringent size requirements - cutting length can't be greater than 5/8" and a shank length not more than 1 13/16" - 1/4" collett (or 8 mm)
